Directions to Tuli Wilderness from Gauteng

VIA PONT DRIFT BORDER POST

  • Take N1 north to Polokwane

  • As you arrive into Polokwane turn left (past Builders Warehouse) at traffic light onto R521 – signposted “Sheshego”

  • Travelling through the industrial area, turn right at 6th set of traffic lights – signposted “Sheshego/Louis Trichardt (N1)”

  • Turn left at the next set of lights - R521 Mogwadi (Dendron), Vivo, Alldays

  • It’s 145kms to Alldays

  • At T-junction in Alldays, turn right to Pontdrift

  • It’s 59kms to Pontdrift

  • Once you’ve completed the border formalities in SA you’ve seen the last of tar roads

  • Cross the Limpopo River bed – no bridge nor low level crossing

  • Approximately 1km outside Pontdrift border post, turn left

  • It’s 30km to the Tuli Wilderness entrance

  • Travelling on this road, you will cross a veterinary fence where you’ll be required to put the soles of your shoes in an anti-pest watery solution (You are not required to pay anything at this gate)

  • Continue to four-way stop

  • Go straight and do not turn left or right

  • You will cross the Motloutse River bed – no bridge nor low level crossing

  • Continue travelling and pass through the cattle-grids at Talana Farms

  • 3kms past the Farms you’ll find the entrance to Tuli Wilderness on the left

  • Follow the small road for another 3kms until you reach the Reception and Parking area

  • Welcome to our wilderness!

VIA PLATJAN BORDER POST

  • Take N1 north to Polokwane

  • As you arrive into Polokwane turn left (past Builders Warehouse) at traffic light onto R521 – signposted “Sheshego”

  • Travelling through the industrial area, turn right at 6th set of traffic lights – signposted “Sheshego/Louis Trichardt (N1)”

  • Turn left at the next set of lights - R521 Mogwadi (Dendron), Vivo, Alldays

  • It’s 145kms to Alldays

  • At T-junction turn right and immediately left R572 to Swartwater

  • Approximately 4kms outside of Alldays, turn right onto a gravel road – signposted “Dardenellen”. You’ve seen the last of tarred roads now.

  • It’s approximately 35kms to Platjan border post

  • There is a low level bridge crossing the Limpopo River at this border post

  • At the T-junction, approximately 8kms from Platjan, turn right

  • It’s 38km to the Tuli Wilderness entrance on the right

  • Follow the small road for 3kms until you reach Reception and Parking area

  • Welcome to our wilderness!
